"Describing the claim that "the Bush administration squandered this giant surplus left by the Clinton administration" as a "Democrat [sic] mantra talking point," nationally syndicated radio host Rush Limbaugh falsely asserted that "there never was a surplus" under President Clinton. In fact, from 1998 to 2001, the federal government ran total annual budget surpluses of between $69.2 billion and $236.2 billion, according to figures from the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO)".
This is a favorite lie among phony conservatives (phony conservatives are republicans) because they just can't get over the fact that no Republican since Eisenhower has ever even come close to balancing a federal budget and the fiscally conservative Democrat, William Jefferson Clinton, balanced four in row.
I should have held off on doing this post hoping some of the fools I know who listen to Limbaugh would be dumb enough to believe him and repeat his ignorance but I've already made them look like fools before on this very same issue, so maybe they're finally learning their lesson. Nah, I doubt it-they're awfully dumb and extremely misinformed like all listeners of the republican's favorite drug addict.
Media Matters makes Limbaugh look stupid once again!
